An exciting addition is a Keynote on Wednesday morning by Former U.S. Congressman Rick Boucher, sharing his insights from serving 28 years in the House of Representatives. He will then join an all-star panel including Congressional Staff. The “off-the record “panel will be moderated by Christopher Wolf of Hogan Lovells and includes Timothy Robinson, Senior Policy Counsel & Legislative Director, Representative Bobby Rush (IL), Erin Ryan, Legislative Counsel Congresswoman Jackie Speier (CA) and Alvaro Bedoya, Chief Counsel, Senate Judiciary Committee / Senator Franken (MN). Expect discussion on some of the breaking news and reports to be released next week (see below).
New Keynote / Plenary Speaker - Julie Brill, Commissioner of the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) will be joining the plenary panel, "Realizing the Promise of Trust". Since joining the Commission, Brill has worked actively on issues most affecting today’s consumers, including protecting consumers’ privacy, encouraging appropriate advertising substantiation, guarding consumers from financial fraud, and maintaining competition in industries involving high tech and health care.
New Keynote - Rick Boucher, past member of the U.S. House of Representatives will be providing a keynote focusing on the evolving privacy debate. During his Congressional tenure of 28 years, he chaired the subcommittee on Communications, Technology and the Internet. He was one the co-founders of the Congressional Internet Caucus, and was instrumental in drafting the initial legislation providing privacy rights for Internet users.

Ari represents NIST on the Department of Commerce Internet Policy Task Force, providing input on areas such as cybersecurity, privacy, and identity management.. Schwartz came to NIST after serving over 12 years as Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the Center for Democracy and Technology. At CDT, Schwartz’s worked to improve privacy protections in the digital age and expand access to government information via the Internet. He has won both the 2006 RSA and the 2010 Online Trust Alliance awards for Excellence in Public Policy and was also named one of the most influential internet policy thought leaders in DC
